About Graphic Design
As the design industry moves towards the future, there is a need for professionals who are able to communicate ideas and concepts effectively. This subject introduces the student to art intended to communicate information and advertising. The focus is on studying and using layout and design concepts used in the graphic design field. The students will employ both analogue media (drawing with pencil and paper, etc.) and digital media -- using up-to-date computer tools (graphics hardware and software - for drawing, painting, layout, typography, scanning, editing and photography).
Graphic designs courses have great potential in providing creative solutions to the communication of complex phenomena of print media such as books, magazines and newspapers, known as pictographic depictions or concept visualization. It can be traditionally applied in typography, cartooning (social, political and educational), and designing posters, book covers, letterheads, newspapers, brochures, logos, textile prints, or even jewellery.
The Graphic Design curriculum focuses on creating intelligent and powerful visual communication. During the study, assignments will incorporate problem-solving projects that relate to visual communication. The course includes an introduction to computers as a tool to create, modify and present visual messages.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES (PO's)
1. Understand a Good Painting, Good Design and Good Photograph. Also able to make a Painting, Sketching. |
2. Understand software tools and techniques for Manipulations, Image Editing, Creating designs and layouts. |
3. Understand various font styles, understand serif/non serif fonts and how to using fonts or manuscript in the design. |
4. Understand the Depth in design, Painting and Photograph. |
5. Develop concepts and provide design solutions in response to a given brief or end user of the company product. |
6. Present a range of promotional material, using branding guidelines in support of a given brand. |
7. Read a famous logo and create a unique logo by following steps of Research, Mind Storming and Sketching. |
8. Take a artistic photograph and professional image editing. In Indoor-Outdoor, Function, Industrial Area, Product, Wildlife and Model. |
9. Create a Website Design, Mobile App Design and App\Website wireframe design. |
10. Create conceptual solution for social and advertising campaigning. |
11. Awareness of the designer’s roles and responsibilities and how to present themselves and their work within a commercial environment. |

BACHELOR OF VOCATION (B.Voc Degree Course) |
Duration: The duration of the B.Voc. Degree Course will be of three years. |
- B.Voc. Part I - Diploma in Graphic Design (Semester I & II)
- B.Voc. Part II - Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design (Semester III & IV)
- B.Voc. Part III - Bachelor of Vocation in Graphic Design (Semester V & VI)
